Overlanding has exploded in popularity over the past few years which has led to adventurers around the world documenting their travels. Inspired by their adventures we have compiled the most comprehensive list of overlanding related YouTube channels on the planet. Their adventures will take you across the globe as far as circumnavigating Africa to exploring backroads everywhere. We have organized the list be subscriber count.
**Keep in mind that “Overlanding” means a lot of things to a lot of different people. Some will say the only thing that qualifies as Overlanding is extended full-time vehicle dependent travel that has international reach. While that definition matches some of the adventurers on the list it doesn’t match what we consider Overlanding. Our definition is Vehicle based adventure travel where the journey is as important as the destination. Whether they are on a year long journey or exploring the world one weekend at a time you will find each journey inspiring and entertaining.**
1. Ronny Dahl 225k+:
Ronny is an Australian overlander who has been exploring Australia his entire life, mostly in Toyota’s. His channel is extremely informative and entertaining with new videos being uploaded each week. His trips take you to some of the most remote places in Australia across technical terrain in very capable. rigs.
2. XOverland 188k+:
Expedition Overland was founded by Clay Croft. It’s an American based overland and adventure travel group driving Toyota’s. Clay and company have been travelling North America for around a decade. Their videos are the pinnacle of production quality and take you on adventures across North and South America.
3. Trail Recon: 169k+
Brad at Trail Recon is one of the best resources for Jeep info on YouTube. While the entire channel isn’t dedicated to Overlanding Brad takes on some pretty serious Overland adventures in his videos weeks at a time exploring California, Utah, Colorado and Baja.
4. IamJake 142k+:
Jake Wettern has been living out of his Jeep for over two years. He dropped out of college to experience travelling around the USA on a 50 state road trip in his Jeep Wrangler. Jake’s videos are in vlog format and are funny, entertaining and well worth the watch. We highly suggest starting from the very beginning and watching his journey from day one where he is living in a sailboat to present.
5. 4xOverland 142K+:
Andrew St. Pierre White has traveled the entire world documenting his adventures. His trips across Africa are some of the most compelling overland videos in the World. He currently lives in Australia and is travelling it’s most remote routes in his Toyota Landcruiser.
6. Overland Bound 100k+:
Michael and his Wife Corrie own and operate Overland Bound an overlanding community website that promotes overland travel around the globe. Members around the globe join the community to share adventures and tips. Their YouTube channel consists mostly of how-to and rig walk around videos. However they do have some incredible trip videos as well.
7. Lifestyle Overland 58k+
They sold their RV and loaded up their Turtleback trailer and Toyota 4Runner and headed on a multi-month adventure to Alaska and the Yukon. Each video is well crafted and includes family adventures along the way.
8. Mountain State Overland: 45k+
The Mountain State Overland Crew are based out of Virginia and create a beautiful and fun video series each year covering their season of exploring.
9. Venture4wd 25k+
Chris Schontz has spent the past two years travelling the United States in his incredible Jeep Wrangler with Ursa Minor top.
10. Live Work Wander: 15k+
Jessica and Jorge are probably the funniest albeit irreverent channel on the list. They are traveling full-time in one of the coolest Toyota Land Cruiser on the planet. Not to mention the first two seasons they are cruising in an extremely built out Syncro.
11. Bound For Nowwhere: 15k+
Mak and Owen are a fun couple traveling around in their newly decked out Tundra.
12. Overland Way 10k+
If you love van life and the Mitsubishi Delica is the #1 vehicle on your list of which we had these in the US list you will love their channel. Travelling all over Australia and South American you have got to check them out.
13. The Way Overland 7k+
Jolie and Mike are on a trip circumnavigating the earth in their incredible land cruiser. Stunning views, and exploring countries often overlooked by many overlanders.
14. Campervan Culture: 13k+
Travel Europe and Morroco with the Jed, Lou and Isaac in their Camper Van.
15. Down2Mob Overland: 14k+
Phil quit his job bought an awesome Ram truck with a custom camper and hit the road. If you love full-size rigs you will love this channel!
16. 410 Expedition 13k+
Cappy is a Canadian overlander who has a knack for building incredible setups. His off-road trailer and custom rooftop tent are some of the best DIY setups we have ever seen.
17. Backroad Exploration 1,300+:
Jared and Mike travel some of the most remote places in Utah and the surrounding states one weekend at a time with their families. Jared in his Jeep and Mike in his Toyota 4Runner.
18. The Road Chose Me 10k+
Dan Grec is one of the most inspiring overlanders we have ever seen. If traversing the Pan American Highway was not enough in his two door Jeep Wrangler. Dan decided to Circumnavigate Africa. He picked up a 4 door Jeep and has been on the road for a few years now.
19. The Travelling Together Journal 7k+
Matt and Amie sold everything they had in Maui and picked up a Toyota T100 to take on a trip from California to Panama. They are currently preparing for their next adventure but have lots of content still in the pipeline.
20. Swell Runner 46k+
Jason the man behind Swell Runner is fun to watch and has a unique editing style that paired with this adventures makes his videos some of the best on YouTube. His channel has been growing like crazy over the past few years. Watch as he explores Utah and the west in his rad Toyota 4Runner with his Turtleback trailer in tow.
21. Dirt Sunrise 1,700+:
Tim and Kelsey are travelling together in their 80s series Land Cruiser They are currently headed through South America.
22. Mark Doiron 4k+
Mark has one of our favorite channels. With incredible adventures along the Trans American trail and trips to Alaska and back you will love his adventures.
23. Softroading The West 500+
Don at Sofroading The West is a must watch If you love the Subarus or want some of the best views in the Pacific North West. He shows you just how capable a Subaru is while highlighting some of the most beautiful terrain on the planet!
24. Bold Overland 6k+
Based out of Tennessee the guys at Bold Overland have set out on some really incredible adventures in their fleet of Toyota’s. We particularly liked their trip into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan give them a follow!
25. A2A Expedition 3,200+
The Bell family is certainly one of the best traveled families in the world. From South Africa they set out several years ago in their Land Rover. Graeme Bell has written several Overlanding books documenting their adventures check them out here, here and here. While their channel is not as active as some of the others on the list they have been producing more and more content and should certainly be on your list!
26. All Terrain Family 7k+
Mike and his family explore some of the coolest places in Nevada in their Toyota 4Runner. While the channel is not completely dedicated to off-road content it’s all very entertaining.
