Jeeps can go just about anywhere. But if you are not taking advantage of the thousands of miles of beautiful mountain single track out there only accessible to dirt bikes then you are missing out. So how can you get your dirt bike to the trail without having to sell your Jeep and buy a truck? There are a few simple solutions out on the market that you will want to take advantage of.
1. Rear Carrier:
The most common solution is a rear carrier. They hook into your Jeeps hitch and you strap your bike to the carrier. This allows you to bring the bike anywhere you take the Jeep. Most come with a ramp that can be dropped down so your your dirt bike can wheel up or have some type of lift mechanism. Here are a few of our favorite carriers and what we like about them.
A. The All Jacked up Switch Carrier.
This carrier is one of the highest quality carriers out on the market. It it easy to use and has a hydraulic lift mechanism that can drop the carrier up to three feet. It can hold up to 375lbs making it perfect for larger dirt bikes and even some adventure motorcycles. It quickly lowers and raises to lift your bike off the ground and keep it safe. It comes with integrated tie-down loops which make it easy to secure your bike using the handlebars on your bike. It is also a $100 cheaper than the All Jacked Up Carrier. C. Fly Racing Motorcycle Carrier
If you are looking for a more affordable solution than the two above you can grab the Fly Racing Motorcycle Carrier. It uses a hinging ramp that tilts to one side so you can roll the bike up and then lock it into place. It’s simple yet functional design is easy to use and has less moving parts making it less expensive and likely a little more reliable long term. It can hold up to 400lbs making it one of the strongest carriers on the market and best of all you can pick it up for right around $250 on Amazon.
2. Front Carrier:
If you are already carrying a lot of gear on the rear of your rig and want to balance out the load a bit there are some solid options. You can utilize any of the carriers above with a front bumper that has a receiver hitch and carry your dirt bike out front.
3. Trailer:
If carrying a Jeep on your front or rear bumper is not an option that works with your setup you can always pull a trailer. Trailers can be a really good option if you are tight on cargo space or want to carry multiple bikes on your adventures. You have thousands of options when it comes to trailers. From simple cargo setups to advanced off-road and overlanding trailers there are a lot of options. We have one trailer in particular that we really like.
