Do the Jeep Wrangler seats fold completely flat? The quick answer is Mostly. When the seats are folded down in the JL Wrangler 2018-Present they are mostly flat. There is a slight incline from the back to the front. The front seats fold down and leave a very slight incline compared to the rear cargo area of the Jeep. Keep in mind this is only 4 door models. The seats in the 2 door model do not fold flat at all. The seat hinges forward on the 2 door model and leans against the front seats. If you plan to sleep in the Jeep you will be fine especially if you plan to use some type of sleeping pad or air mattress which will help minimize the impact of the slight incline. If for some reason you need it to be 100% level it will not quite work. There are products like the Goose Gear seat delete system that allows you to remove the rear seats and replace them with a flat surface from Goose Gear Outfitters.
If you are looking at a JK Wrangler 2008-2018 the answer is mostly but with a gap. The 2 door JK is like the 2 door JL where the seat folds forward up against the front seats. This hinged setup is not flat at all.
The 4 door models all have a small gap between between where the floor of the cargo area and the seats fold down flat.
We sleep in our JK all of the time. We simply stuff a small pillow down into that gap to help level out the rear cargo area of the Jeep. If you run an air mattress or other sleeping pad you can lay down in the back of your JK for the night no problem.
Mostly Flat Surface
With the seats folded forward in your 4 door Jeep you will have a mostly flat surface to work with. Flat enough to pack gear, equipment, lumber or other supplies with ease. If you are hoping to sleep in your Jeep you can with relative comfort. Pick up a nice air mattress designed to fit in the back of the Jeep or using a sleeping pad and you will be all set.
